Swing Arm Curtain Rod
Swinging arm curtain rods were not originally designed to be
used on the farm or the beach; they were designed to be used in regular homes everywhere. The difference between
them and a normal curtain rod with brackets or hooks is that the swinger can be removed and moved to the side or
put in a different position. Curtains on them don’t only hang down but outwards from the wall.
The best use for swingers is at the beach with a mosquito net
on top of it to cover you while you sleep. A couple of swinging rods, one on each side of a large bed or one in the
middle for a normal bed will hold that net in exactly the right position all through the night. In the morning all
you do is set it back against the wall and your bed will be free of the cover.
They are used on doors too with the same purpose. You are able
to sleep with the door open, covered with a mosquito net which will allow air and the breeze to come into the room
without the mosquitoes. In the morning all you do is push the rod against the wall and your door frame is free
again. They are very practical and elegant too. They are made in bronze and stainless steel and almost any metal
you can think of.
Some models can be extended and cover large areas of room. An
example of this is a curtain rod which retracted will cover three feet. Once extended will cover another two and a
half feet. Of course you can only use light weighed curtains on them because of the weight factor, but they work
perfectly and are used more as divisions than to actually cover or close a window.
They are also used in beauty parlors and salons for when a
customer does not want her neighbor to see what they are doing to her. All they need to do is separate a pair of
nice classic looking curtain rods from the wall, with a chic designed curtain and isolate the customer from the
rest of the solon. It won’t take more than two minutes and the division will look great to the other customers.
The fact is that swinging curtain rods are very versatile and can be used for very many things. They can even be
used to cover windows. Another very useful idea that I have seen in country homes and hotels is dual purpose
swinging rods, during the night they are used to cover the window besides them but during the day, when the curtain
is drawn, they are used as flower pot holders.
So you see there are many uses for swinging arm curtain rods.
If you want to use them to hang your clothes out to dry, go ahead I’m are sure they will do the job
perfectly!
